"Everyone in this world has to shoulder certain duty and mission!"   This is the "Wholesome Living" philosophy
conceptualised by Mr. Oh Chong Fah.  His greatest hope is to contribute to society through his own strength.  He hopes
that everybody will have an opportunity to taste his self-made food.  However, the most important task is to share the
joy and success with everybody.

Chong Fah had been an electronic engineer in a multinational company for ten years.  In 2000, he participated in a fateful
fasting camp which was conducted by Dr Chiang Su Hwee in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia.  That fasting camp enabled him
to truly understand how to live in a healthy way and to eat correctly which would result in his spiritual enlightenment.
From that day onwards, he acquired a greater interest in healthy living.  He read many books, listened to many CDs and
watched numerous VCDs authored by Dr. Chiang Su Hwee, Dr. Lai Chiu-Nan and Mr. Ouyang Ying.  Finally, a meeting with
Ray Kent, a fasting guru, had brought much inspiration and realization upon himself.

Since Chong Fah manages a vegetarian confectionary, therefore let us start sharing about him from the time he became a
vegetarian.  He started to be a vegetarian at age of 21 because he realized that eating meat was very cruel.  When he
was in the national service, he thought that they did not serve vegetarian meals, therefore he started taking meat again.
Consequently, he became a vegetarian intermittently. During that period, due to a shallow understanding of vegetarian
diet; he was worried about nutrition deficiency, so he resorted to eating egg and milk in order to achieve a balanced
nutrition.

Finally in 2000, after participating in Dr Chiang Su Hwee's fasting camp, Chong Fah became a genuine vegetarian. Since all
his doubts and uncertainties about vegetarian diet had been resolved and concurrently, for the sake of good health, he
decided to be a vegetarian for the rest of his life.

Chong Fah's passion for cooking had begun when he was only 10 years old, as such he remarked that cooking is nothing
strange for him.  After becoming a vegetarian, he enjoys reading recipe books and experimenting with the cooking.  From
the year 2001 to 2004, he conducted the "Bread Baking Class" and "Healthy Vegetarian Cooking Class" in the Tzu Chi
Foundation in Singapore.  He feels that life is full of joy and meaning whenever he has the opportunity to share the good
meals with everyone.

After becoming a vegetarian for several years, Chong Fah hopes to expand his vegetarian hobby into a career because he
thinks it will be a very meaningful career for him.  At that time, as an engineer with a stable income, his family members
did not support his move to resign and to become an entrepreneur, as starting a business in Singapore is quite difficult.
Within that period, he was in dilemma.

Nevertheless, he realizes that people who are busy with their work often neglect their own health; and eventually they
will have to use their hard earned money for health treatment.  Yet after spending a lot of money and exhausting their
savings, their diseases have not been cured.  He is pained to learn that most people still have very low awareness
regarding health. Their misconceptions will lead to undesirable effects on them and this is very pitiful.  In Singapore, one
out of every four people suffers from cancer - this is terrible!

Therefore he is determined that, with his minimal strength, he will try his best to do something which can benefit others.
He feels that this is an important mission and goal in his life, of which he wants to fulfill as soon as possible.
In June 2004, after much deep consideration, he resigned his job.  As everyone knows, when "there is a will, there is
always a way".  Under another fateful circumstance, he met the founder of Kampung Senang Charity & Education
Foundation, Madam Joyce Lye.  Since then, he has volunteered to be the Organic Diet Teacher.  Besides conducting
various cooking classes, he has also been responsible for Weekend Kitchen Mart and is also in charge of cooking for all
occasions in Kampung Senang.  In February 2006, he officially joins the Kampung Senang family.  Now he is a vegetarian
culinary instructor certified by the Singapore People's Association.

Some people may ask him why he is so rigid in emphasizing the importance of a vegetarian diet.  They stressed that
working is already such a busy affair and there are so many matters to attend to, so where can they have time to observe
a vegetarian diet?  However, according to Dr. Chiang, health and joy are obtained from eating while extrication from
stresses starts from eating too.  This is the combined results of her research, clinical experiments and her own
experiences.  According to the epidemiology investigation, they found that 80% of cancers are related to our diet, habits
and environment.   In reality the diet factor plays an important role.   It is estimated that in European and American
countries, around 35% to 60% of all cancer death cases are related with the eating habit.

Once you possess a healthy body and clear mind, you will be able to accomplish many things in your life and eventually you
will achieve harmony in your body, mind and spirit.  In conclusion, a very basic knowledge of the diet is compulsory to guide
and educate everybody.

Friends who suffer from cancer often consult Chong Fah regarding the most suitable health diet.  He does not dare to
consider himself to be an expert in this, but he will always try his best to help them with whatever he knows.  He will
suggest they switch to a vegetarian diet, followed by a raw meal.  Besides, he will encourage them to fast.  Whenever he
sees any improvement on their condition, he will feel very happy.  Currently, Chong Fah is practicing self-study in an
Ayurveda and  Iridology courses to upgrade himself and to gain more knowledge regarding the vegetarian diet.

In order to fulfill their dreams, Chong Fah and his wife have resigned from their profession to pay full attention to their
vegetarian confectionery.  They hope to bring benefit to more people.  They also hope to bring convenience to people and
to get their acceptance for the vegetarian diet.  They also want to change the people's perception that a vegetarian diet
is neither nutritious nor delicious.

Perhaps some people may find it strange that the Wholesome Living breads, cakes and biscuits taste so great even
without the use of any food preservatives, additives, milk or eggs.  In this respect, Chong Fah had put in a lot of effort.
He has insisted and believed that food can be equally delicious and nutritious.  Despite encountering numerous problems in
the past, he has not lost any confidence.  At Wholesome Living, you have the opportunity to not only taste good food but
also to learn more about cooking and food nutrition.

Chong Fah and his wife said that they are very fortunate to have the support and assistance from their own family when
they embarked on a career of their own interest and they are equally grateful to everybody who has helped them.

Chong Fah said that it does not matter whether a person's life is long or short, what is most important is that the person
has lived significantly and worthily.  "Now it is only the beginning as the future holds lots of issues to be resolved.  On the
contrary, if we have the perseverance and intention not to give up, we believe that the path of life will be more
meaningful and colorful!"
